Ventilation of Electric Locomotive Traction Motors of Northern Direction of Eastern Polygon of Russian Railways

The reduced reliability of insulation of traction motors of electric locomotives of the northern direction of the Eastern Polygon was established. It was revealed it is largely due to the irrational ventilation of the engines. The article considers the measures to reduce the insulation failures of traction motors.

Influence of Traction Motors Weight on High-Speed Electric Train Movement Stability

When analysing the technical parameters of abroad trains, their maximum speed approaches 400 km/h, a tendency to reduce the weight of the locomotive underframe components was revealed, including the use of low-power traction motors, and the necessary traction power is achieved due to the complete motored axes of the electric train. To justify substantiate the feasibility of using this approach, the article carried out the computational investigation of the movement stability using the mathematical model of the Sapsan electric train at different weights and the design of suspending of traction motors on the bogie frame.

Research of Accumulation Intensity Parameter of Commuter Passengers at Stopping Points Waiting for Electric Train

The article presents the research results of the approach intensity of passengers to boarding electric trains. It is determined that the approach intensity of passengers is described by the probability density function of the log-logistic distribution (the Fisk distribution), and that the key parameter affecting the distribution is the train-to-train interval before and after departure of the commuter electric train.

Comparative Analysis of Standard and Adaptive System of Sand Adding on Locomotive Wheelset

Based on the use of a linearized model of locomotive wheelset spinning, the authors carried out a comparative analysis of the behaviour of the standard sand adding system under the wheels and the proposed adaptive sand control system in typical spinning cases. As the latter, the spinning cases during train acceleration and when running over oil spots on rails are used.

Distribution of Freight Flows in Border Checkpoint System of Primorye-2 Transport Corridor

The dynamics of the increase in the volume of cargo transported in the eastern direction requires the implementation of complex solutions to improve the traffic capacity of the transport and terminal logistics infrastructure. The authors carried out the assessment the workload of the border checkpoints of the Primorye-2 international transport corridor, in particular, the Makhalino (RF) - Hunchun (PRC) railway border crossing and the Kraskino automobile checkpoint.

On Dual Entity of Railway Transport

The rail transport has a dual entity as a system and an element of the national economy system. In the second case, its function is to ensure the country economic connections with reliable and effective transport links. The formation of the structure should be considered from the functional positions. It is important to consider in infrastructure design and work organisation.

On One Approach to Quality Assessing of Train Traffic Operational Control

In this paper, the sequence of departure and arrival deviations at a station is considered as the Markov chain. Each link of this chain has a transient probability matrix the authors use to determine the efficiency index. Based on this numerical characteristic, a method for quality assessing of vehicle traffic control has been developed. Estimates obtained with the proposed method are shown to be consistent with those of another, earlier method.

Selenium Determination Method Using Mercury-Film and Graphite Electrode in Natural Waters near Railway Transport Facilities

Various approaches to detecting inorganic selenium in an aqueous medium using electrochemical methods have been studied. During the study, it was found that selenium does not precipitate on the surface of the graphite electrode if it is present in solutions. The effect of various parameters (background electrolyte content, pH, potential and accumulation time) on the selenide ion analytical signal was determined.
