The technical data of machines used for the car wheelset turning are given. The optimization technique of car-wheel turning machine choice with regard for economic expediency is presented.

It indicates that the limit distributions the I(F) integral extremums are achieved are the step distribution functions with a limited number of points of the increase.

The models and algorithms for rail track fault prediction according to the indications of the track gauge car are presented to prevent the adverse effect on the transportation process, in particular, the speed limit on the railway section.
The approach to the improvement of the setting system of container transportation operation is formulated. Along with full-compound container trains, the author proposes to form container block-trains of differentiated ("floating") lengths in a technologically reasonable traffic interval. The cost-effectiveness calculations of the block train with the length of 53, 55, 57, and 58 conventional cars are given. It is noted that the operation of transportation with the shortened block trains results in a relative saving of conditionally constant ("independent") transportation expenses.
