Stand for Soil Cutting Research with Models of Excavating Machine Working Tools

The article describes the universal stand for studying soil cutting with models of excavating machine working tools (patent for invention No. 2689958). The stand makes it possible to conduct soil cutting studies in three media: in a normal medium (at atmospheric pressure), an aqueous medium (at hydrostatic pressure) and in a rarefied space (vacuum). At the same time, it is possible to conduct studies with translational cutting elements (models of dumps, cable-laying cutting knifes, etc.) and rotary working elements (excavator bucket, grab).

Optimisation of Power Consumption in Railway Transport under Restriction Conditions

The optimisation model type and the solution form are justified taking into account the specifics of power consumption in railway transport. The initially formulated problem of nonlinear programming is reduced to linear. The result of its solution is obtained in the form of a load profile of the selected control object for working and non-working time intervals.

Method of Determining Statistical Data for Calculation of Passenger Car Remaining Life

When finding the remaining service life of the product the main task, in addition to the failure function definition, is to determine the initial data for calculation. So, it is not always possible to find the necessary parameters due to the multifactorial destruction of the product and the lack of necessary research in this field. The paper considers an alternative method of input data definition for elements with a reliability model using Rayleigh distribution.

Impact of Stresses in Track Rail on Wave Processes from Wheel Impact on it

The authors consider the interaction of the wheel and rail as a solution to the problem of spherical wheel impact to the rail mainly in the joint zone represented by an orthotropic plate having curvilinear anisotropy, which is affected by a longitudinal force and impact effects in two moments. The diagrams of impact interaction of wheel and rail in the form of Uflyand-Mindlin plate and solution of system of differential equations are given.

Synthesis of Industrial Heat Exchange System

The article considers the thermodynamic method of constructing thermal production circuits. This method is especially relevant for heat-consuming industries, in which open steam is used as heat carriers. The feasibility of involving low-potential heat sources in the implementation of technological processes is shown.

Adaptation of Railway Infrastructure of Central Transport Hub to Ensure Efficient Local Operation Organisation

The article indicates the need for a specialised marshalling station in the Central Transport Hub for the formation of local freight trains. To determine the potentially advantageous location of such a station in the junction, the authors propose to use the Dijkstra's algorithm.

Determination of Longitudinal Force Acting on Boiler Shell of Frameless Tank in Collision with Rigid Obstacle

The determination of the longitudinal force acting on the boiler shell of the tank car in a collision with an obstacle is investigated. The decision takes into account the law of conservation of energy and the potential energy associated with deformation of the shell, the theory of shells being applied. The article presents the graphs of force change as a function of collision velocity. The authors investigated the change of the force before and after the moment of saturation of the energy intensity of the device, taking into account the energy of the shell deformation.

Development Prospects of Regional River Transport Infrastructure

The purpose of the study presented in the article is to consider methods for determining the location of a transport and logistics facility in a certain region. The analysis allows stating that to solve this problem, it is necessary to check individual options for a number of factors and take into account the individual characteristics of the region.

Determination of Economic Efficiency in Reducing Incidence Rate of Diesel Locomotive Crew Workers Based on Use of Risk Assessment Methodology

Workers of locomotive crews operating diesel locomotives are exposed to the chemical air pollution of the working area. Some of the pollutants are carcinogenic. When operating on the long-term diesel locomotives, the carcinogenic risk is 5.22·10-3. It is expected that the formation of 52 additional cases of carcinogenic pathology per 10,000 workers will be annually.
